The Kale suite rooms are the oldest and most impressing room types of the Fairy Chimney Inn. These cave-rooms once used to be the winery of an old byzantine monastery approximately 1500 years ago. Behind an arch in the big room you can still see the big wine press with a shoot on the lower side, where the must once used to flow into a lower little carved basin. The grapes were pressed with bare feet and the pomace later on had been shoveled down through an opening in the floor to the lower stable room to be feeded to the animals.
The rooms exist of a big turkish style living room with a huge round stone formation which reminds to the rolling stone doors early Christians also used in the underground cities. This room has magnificent views to the valleys and close neighbourhood. Its floor is covered with rugs and kilims and you can still guess the various round holes in the ground which used to function as fire places or stands for the wine amphorae.
An upper double-bed room with an attached bathroom also provides best views directly from the bed and has a lovely cozy character. Next to a single bed in the old wine press one room below, there are two single beds in the lowest room next to the entrance also provided with an own little washing basin.
Even the kale suite will also be a nice accommodation for a couple on a honeymoon or need of generous living space, these rooms are also recommended for a family with bigger children or friends who can share one bathroom. In front of the entrance there is a big terrace with tables and deck-chairs for your use.
